Description:

In addition to safe emergency shelter and a 24-hour hotline, female and male domestic violence survivors have access to scattered site transitional housing; strengths-based case management with an emphasis on self-sufficiency, housing, health, and family; individual, family, and children's therapy, support groups, and addictions counseling; activities that promote positive child development and parent/child interaction; civil legal representation; information, support, and safety planning in 13 area courts and six local hospitals; and supervised visitation and monitored exchanges of custody. Additionally, Hope House maintains collaborations with local police departments, including seven which implement with Hope House a lethality assessment protocol; actively participates in other community initiatives; and conducts community education for professionals and the general public.

    Description

    Court Advocates provide accompaniment assistance to female and male survivors of domestic violence in 13 area courts including order of protection court. They explain court proceedings and provide support and safety planning. Civil Legal Representation: Contract attorneys provide holistic civil legal assistance to address the broad range of legal issues encountered by survivors. Some services are only offered to those staying in the shelter, but ex parte (restraining order) assistance is offered to any survivor. Hope House also provides hospital advocacy for domestic violence survivors at area hospitals. This can include emotional support, safety planning, or ex parte filing assistance.
